🟢 The first phase of MISOMIP2 submissions is now open!

Deadline: Open-ended for now. We will update once we have an expected submission timeframe.

Submission focus

At this stage, we are asking participants to submit results only for the following experiments:

  • OceanA-hind
  • OceanW-hind

A brief overview of all experiments can be found here, with further details available in the protocol manuscript.

Submissions for the other MISOMIP2 experiments will be requested in later calls.

Submission Instructions

Please follow these steps to submit your MISOMIP2 data contribution.

1. Data preparation

Organize your simulation output files according to the MISOMIP2 data format guidelines.

We provide a Python package to help process model outputs into the standard MISOMIP2 format.

Note: While this package has been tested on a range of ocean model outputs, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every model setup. If you encounter any issues or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

2. Create a Zenodo archive

We will use Zenodo to host MISOMIP2 contributions. Each participant should upload their data to a personal archive, retaining full ownership and control, including the ability to update or remove their submission. We will then access the data directly from these archives for processing. To upload your data to Zenodo, please follow the steps below.

2.1 Sign in / Create an account

  • Zenodo requires an account. You can log in via ORCID, GitHub, or email/password.
  • If you don’t already have an account, sign up at https://zenodo.org/signup.

2.2 Start a new upload

  1. Click “New Upload” on your Zenodo dashboard.
  2. Select “Upload files” and choose all your prepared data files.
  3. Make sure all files fit within Zenodo’s limits; the maximum single file size: 50 GB

2.3 Add metadata [Optional]

Providing accurate metadata ensures your data is discoverable and reusable.

  • Title: Use a clear title, e.g., “MISOMIP2 Ice-Shelf-Ocean Phase 1 – Model X”
  • Description: Briefly describe the experiment, model, variables, time period, and any special notes.
  • Creators: Add all team members who contributed.
  • Community: You can link your archive to the MISOMIP2 community if you wish.
  • Keywords: Include relevant tags like MISOMIP2, ice-shelf-ocean-model, etc.
  • Licenses: Choose a license. Recommended: CC BY 4.0 for open data.

2.4 Choose visibility

  • Public: The archive is openly accessible. The coordination team and anyone interested can download your data.
  • Private: The archive is restricted. If you select this, please send us the private link.

2.5 Publish

  • Click “Publish” to finalize your archive.
  • After publishing, copy the Zenodo DOI/URL for submission.

  • Send the Zenodo archive URL or DOI to the MISOMIP2 coordination team by email (Jan De Rydt, Nico Jourdain)
  • If your archive is private, include the private link so we can access it.

4. Confirmation

  • We will acknowledge receipt of your data.
  • If there are any immediate issues with file formats, metadata, or access, we will contact you shortly.

5. Example

A Zenodo archive with example MISOMIP2 data can be found here.
